The CYC has been formed as a very simple sailing club for those that enjoy boating and wouldn't mind the odd trip over the tide, occasional longer trips and good company whilst afloat.
We want to offer an RYA affiliated club but without the trappings of a club house or bar, or a full social calendar. We offer a regular news letter and a shiny new website, currently with a picture of a whiskery seal on the front page onto which we will post pictures and reports of trips (onto the website not the seal). The aim is to encourage as many people as possible to get out and enjoy the water as much as we do.
In limiting what we offer to “afloat services” only, we hope to compliment the excellent local clubs rather than compete for members and we believe membership of CYC should be a simple and fun thing rather than a duty or large time consuming commitment. The membership already includes people with memberships elsewhere and that is absolutely fine with us.
In terms of activities, we currently sail various sized cruisers in the local waters and occasionally to other counties and the continent, the Swale Regatta race series will be supported and promoted but any other water craft enthusiasts will be equally welcome.
We are not planning on becoming caterers, party planners, raffle ticket sales people or publicans in our free time, though it's very nice that others are able to fill these roles elsewhere.
Membership costs have been set at £15 for a single or family annual membership as we feel this reflects the costs we anticipate, and in the spirit of encouragement, we have no joining fee as we'd rather have your company than your money. (if you are a bit unpleasant, we'd settle for the cash though)
